- The parable of the burning house; one of the 'seven parables' in the <Lotus Sutra> [lang id =1028]譬喻品, that of the burning house from which the owner tempts his heedless children by the device of the three kinds of carts-- goat, deer, and bullock, especially a white-bullock cart i. e. Mahāyāna.* * *法華經說, 三界無安, 猶如火宅, 意謂三界好像是一所被火燒著的房子一樣, 人們住在裡面, 苦不堪言。
